For the smooth operation of pneumatic Deadweight Testers clean, dry air is required. This separator catches moist and solid particles, which often contain chemical elements. Thus the piston/cylinder assemblies of Deadweight testers will be safeguarded against corrosion and scratching. The Model 8253 is also used to safeguard pneumatic pressure controllers against corrosion and dirt.

Operation:

The Model 8253 is fitted in the upright position between a pressure calibrator, such as a Deadweight Tester, and the instrument under test. The pressure calibrator normally becomes contaminated with dirt etc. when the pressure in the system is released at the pressure calibrator. When the Model 8253 is installed, the dirt is trapped in the bottom of the separator as the air escapes via the exhaust tube fitted in the separator.
